Confidence Corner : France

Welcome to our third edition of Confidence Corner.

At Tourism Portfolio we are excited about the world opening up so we can continue to support you by connecting you to our inspirational global DMC network.

BONJOUR FRANCE

France has certainly been a hot topic the past few weeks, and we thought we’d turn to our DMC TERRAEVENTS for some in-depth updates about the event scene in France.

The TERRAEVENTS FRANCE offices are located in Paris and Lyon.

They have France well and truly covered for your incentive, meetings, corporate events or hospitality programs.  Bringing together a highly-qualified, experienced team with vast in-depth experience and strong contacts throughout the French MICE industry.

We sat down for a (virtual) one on one with Heidi Feveyear, Director of Development & Operations for TERRAEVENTS.

France

Heidi, what does it look like in France for how events are operating on the ground?

Currently in France everything is open for business with access limited to those with their documents providing proof of full vaccination or a negative PCR test 72h prior to departure & upon arrival as well as a sworn declaration.

France has an excellent vaccination rate at around 70% of the total population with full vaccine cover, whilst maintaining a good level of sanitary protocols. There are no restrictions on capacities anywhere at present and everything is open (except for a few hotels still closed).

Events are taking place with full screening protocol standards in place (pre/during and post event) : wearing of face masks inside (mostly in museums), hand gel made readily available, scan of vaccination and/or PCR records  (Registering the TousAntiCovid app on your mobile and upload your vaccination or PCR records to be scanned at venue/hotel/restaurant/museum etc).

Is there any ongoing capacity restrictions at venues?

Venues are operational and capacities are mainly back to normal!

During the past year and half hotels, restaurants and venues in France have used their closure periods to renovate and recreate and although of course some have closed due to the pandemic, we benefit from having many new creations and re-openings.

What markets have been the first to come back to France and how has TERRAEVENTS adapted?

In France we are seeing mainly a pan European guest participation for groups right now. This could change with more and more countries opening up.

For our events pre/during and post, security covid checks are the order of the day right now as well as flexible contracting agreements.
Find further info on our best practices approach here. Pre bookings are requested in advance, and capacities may be lower for some booking slots.

And what events are in the calendar?

At present we are running live events now and for Oct/Nov mainly with a European and French participation including a 600 person live event right now!

We have seen that our US events which were supposed to take place in 2020 are now being reconfirmed for 2022 and we are hopeful that this trend will continue likewise for our Australian clients.

The 2023 Rugby World Cup and 2024 Olympic Games are coming to France & Paris and this will also generate great opportunity and will be an exciting time in France. Roland Garros tennis tournament took place this year, the Tour de France and Fashion weeks are making their comeback as well.   It's all positive news.

Any last words to leave us with?

The time without a social life is over… It’s time to meet together. France is waiting for you.

Tourism Portfolio have been at work throughout lockdown (well, at home working) and will return to the office at the 80% vaccination marker.   We’re itching to get out to see you, and if you are ready to book in your next sales appointment with the team, lets chat.

We hope you like this edition.  In the next edition we feature the United Kingdom & Ireland.
Please contact us if you'd like any specific information on any of the destinations we represent.
