Welcome to our first edition of Confidence Corner.

At Tourism Portfolio we are excited about the world opening up so we can continue to support you by connecting you to our inspirational global DMC network.

CONFIDENCE CORNER will provide you with regular up to date and accurate information on the current situation, the post COVID -19 landscape and any current  restrictions in place in our DMC destination locations.  With this insightful information once our international borders reopen you will be able to plan your next overseas group educated and with confidence.

The good news closer to home is we are quickly inching towards our international border re-opening.  Many of our DMC’s are already back to work and are busier than ever with a high level of enquiries due to strong pent up demand.  Organizations understand now more than ever the value of international travel as an incentive reward… certainly a silver lining to come out of the last 18 months!

Tourism Portfolio's DMCs remain the best in the business.

DMCs represented by Tourism Portfolio are all highly professional, have remained active throughout the pandemic, and are financially strong. This ensures that you, our valued clients, have the confidence and peace of mind to plan and book future business with them.

Our first focus DMC we focus on in our showcase is our partner in Vienna, Budapest and Prague – IMS.

Having just celebrated 20 years in business this DMC certainly has a great knowledge on all that’s happening in the countries where they have offices.

Worth noting - IMS is the ONLY DMC that has fully serviced, fully staffed offices in each of its destinations, and they are super proud that all the team have been retained throughout the last 18 months.. even us!

Austria

· Excitedly, no self-quarantining is required on arrival into Austria, however you do need to present proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test on arrival.

· Events are taking place as they did pre-COVID, and all museums and attractions are open again.

Isabella Hocher, Director of Planning for IMS Vienna has shared that for 2022 Austria is already looking quite busy as there is a heavy demand for in person events (hooray!).  “And 2023 is building up too”.

Budapest

The team at IMS Budapest are also gearing up for an extremely busy 2022.

Budapest is on track to host the 52nd International Eucharistic Conference, which the Holy Father will also attend.

· The vaccination rate is over 55% of the total population fully vaccinated, yet at the moment restaurants, bars & hotels are only selectively reopened.

· Good news for any business travellers - Australians are permitted to travel freely in the country, and a review is expected for tourist purposes later in September.

Prague

· In Prague, whilst all restaurants, bars, museums, hotels – and swimming pools – are open, events are still operating with a maximum capacity of up to 500 guests indoors and up to 1000 guests outdoors.

· Trade shows and exhibitions have returned, and Australia is already on the green zone lists, so they are ready for us to visit.

Lucia Ratulovska, Director of Operations at IMS Prague has advised new hotel openings are still planned in Prague, with the Stages Hotel (part of the Marriott’s Brand Tribute Portfolio) set to open by end of 2021, The Andaz Hotel managed by Hyatt in 2022, and in 2023 the Golden Prague managed by Fairmont.   The Prague Marriott has almost doubled up the number of rooms by adding the adjoining building to their property.
