Welcome to our second edition of Confidence Corner.

At Tourism Portfolio we are excited about the world opening up so we can continue to support you by connecting you to our inspirational global DMC network.

Set your sights on Singapore

Thank you to everyone who took the time to let us know how much they appreciated our inaugural edition of Confidence Corner.

Without a doubt, there is a healthy appetite to understand what re-engaging with the rest of the world for MICE business is actually looking like on the ground.

In Australia, the conversation is firmly on the emergence of a Singapore bubble, and this month Emir Cherif, Managing Director of Asian Trails Malaysia & Singapore shares the positive information from Singapore.

“It’s encouraging to see the bookings from Germany picking up, being one of the first countries that have implemented a travel bubble with Singapore. We have therefore been very excited to start hiring back our operational staff. The Australian market is equally as important for Asian Trails and Singapore’s high vaccination rate is giving us strong hope that we can welcome back Australian clients sooner than we originally thought.”

Earlier this month, Asian Trails celebrated 22 years of blazing new paths in travel through Asia.  Tourism Portfolio is proud to be a part of this journey and together we’re ready to get groups back to the region.

It’s expected Singapore will reach herd immunity by the end of September, with 79.9% of its population fully vaccinated at time of writing.

Singapore has successfully been operating the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) to low risk countries for leisure travel.  Singapore is working actively with governments to add more countries to the VTL program, which will simplify arrival into Singapore.

Currently, travellers must have an electronic or physical vaccination certificate from the country they are departing from, register to use the TraceTogether app whilst in Singapore, have a Covid-19 test 48 hours prior to departure & upon arrival, and fly only on dedicated VTL flights.

Hotels are accepting bookings, attractions & cruises are operating at 50% capacity, and excitingly Singapore can host up to 1000 participants for live performances, MICE and sporting events.

Throughout the last year, Singapore Airlines has continued to service Australia with direct flights to every capital city.   They expect to increase this capacity as demand continues to rise.   Singapore Airlines & Scoot were recently awarded Skytrax 5-star Health and Safety Rating which assesses their health and safety measures for customers and staff across the entire travel journey.   With contactless services such as web check-in, mobile check-in & digital in-flight menus & e-libraries onboard, they are still focused on the travel experience in this new flight environment.

Singapore Tourism Board are also leading the charge launching SingapoReimagine Global Conversations, a new series of B2B thought-leadership forums that seek to reimagine travel not just for Singapore, but across the world.  Speakers from different sectors, disciplines and locations will outline new travel experiences and business models that demonstrate how the travel industry has managed to innovate and adapt for the future.

For MICE, Singapore is ready for our Australian groups, and the team at Asian Trails are ready to work on your proposals.   We’re confident.

We hope you like this edition.  Our next edition will feature TERRAEVENTS Italy.
