About Laos

About Laos

Laos offers you the charm and the originality you are looking for in Southeast Asia. There are no mega cities or massive hotels in front of big beaches, but beautiful landscapes and a serenity which is difficult to find these days.

Explore the many beautiful temples, eat delicious Lao or French food and stay in one of Laos many excellent resorts. See the royal capital of Luang Prabang with its magical atmosphere. Or fancy some nice trekking in the mountains, while passing by many different ethnic minorities which are not on any tourist route? If this is not enough, you can also travel on the traditional waterways or see some of the astonishing waterfalls in the South of the country. However, the best of this country are its people – deeply influenced by Buddhism they always have a smile for you on their lips.

Laos is really a unique place in Asia where there is much to discover without having the felling to have to share it with the masses.

■ Traveling on the Mekong or Ou River: it’s just a way of life here. And it’s so much nicer than sitting in the bus.

■ The 4000 islands area: the bordering area between Laos and Cambodia is unique with its countless islands on which people live like centuries ago and where no place else seems to be more relaxed. Watch the fishermen or the rare Irrawaddy dolphins or travel to the biggest waterfall in Southeast Asia.

■ Wat Phou – the biggest Khmer temple in Laos, is a beautiful place to visit. Do not forget to climb up all the stairs for a great view.

An amazing
destination.

In Laos, it’s the people, the culture and the experiences that go beyond all expectations. Laos is still unspoilt – a relatively undiscovered country packed with beautiful scenery, relaxed and friendly people, great food and stunning sights. It has a long and fascinating history of royalty, occupation and struggle for independence, awe inspiring ‘vats’ (temples) and a unique mix of French colonial and traditional architecture.
